PRECISION OF DISCLOSURE: The invention relates to the preparation of alkylthio-phenols by reaction of a dialkyl disulfide with a phenol. In the method according to the invention, the reaction in the presence of aluminum chloride or ferric chloride in an alkyl- type solvent benzene or, only in the case of methylthiolation, in an excess of dimethyl disulfide. This process allows in particular to obtain, with selectivity and excellent yields, the 2-alkylthio phenols that you can then transform into 4-acyl-2-alkylthio phenols by reaction at a temperature ranging from 40 to 100 ° C with a BF3: 2RCOOH complex where R denotes an alkyl radical or propene-lyle, in a proportion of 10 to 15 moles of complex per mole of 2-alkylthio phenol. |
