titleOfInvention Diisocyanates and a process for their preparation
abstract NEW DIISOCYANATES AND A PROCESS FOR THEIR PREPARATION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Alkyl-substituted diisocyanatotoluene(s) is (are) produced by (a) heating diaminotoluene(s) in the presence of an Al/Zn alloy and aluminum chloride until evolution of hydrogen ceases, (b) reacting the diamino-toluene(s) with at least one 1-alkene having 8 to 18 carbon atoms at elevated temperature and pressure and (c) phosgenating the resultant alkyl-substituted diaminotoluene(s). These alkyl-substituted diiso-cyanatotoluenes are liquids having low vapor pressures and are useful in the production of polyurethanes,
