abstract | ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is provided a stabilized reagent kit useful in a determination of total cholesterol, which reagent kit com-prises three component solutions, wherein the first component solution consists essentially of: a) a lipase in an amount greater than about 7 units per milliliter, b) cholesterol oxidase in an amount greater than about 2 units per milliliter and c) a peroxidase in an amount greater than about 15 units per milliliter, elements a), b) and c) being present in an aqueous solution comprising an organic solvent in an amount of from about 10% to about 75% (v/v) and a salt solution having a molarity of from about 0.01 to about 4.0; wherein the second component solution consists essentially of a peroxidase sub-strate in an amount of from about 1 to about 200 grams per liter and a surfactant in an amount of from about 0.5% to about 30% (v/v), in an aqueous solution containing an organic solvent in an amount of from about 5.0% to about 90% (v/v); and wherein the third component solution comprises an aqueous solution. |
