abstract | Abstract A cetane improver especially although not exclusively for diesel fuel comprises compounds of the formula: wherein n is an integer from 1 to about 8; wherein p1 and p11, independently, is an integer of from 0 to 2; wherein R3, R13, R4 and R14, independently, is H or an alkyl having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms; wherein R2 and R12, independently, is H or a hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 18 carbon atoms; wherein G1 and G11, independently are a -CN, NO2, ?-X1, ?-X11, ?-X1, ?-X11, , , S(O)zX1, S(O)zX11, wherein X1 and X11, independently, is H, lower alkyl, OH, OR* where R* is an alkyl having from 1 to 22 carbon atoms, wherein R** and R*** is, independently, H or an alkyl having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms; where y is H, a hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 18 carbon atoms, OH, OR*, wherein z is 1 or 2; and wherein R1 and R11, independently is H, or a hydrocarbyl having from 1 to about 18 carbon atoms or said G1; and optionally wherein R1 and R3, R2 and R4, R11 and R13, or R12 and R14, are bonded together, and independently, form a hydrocarbyl substitutent, having a total of from 1 to 18 carbon atoms. |
