ABSTRACT A membrane unit for use in an electrolytic cell comprising a combination of a membrane material and a reinforcing material around only the gasket--bearing surface of the membrane material. Damage to the gasket bearing surface of the membrane structure is minimized when the membrane unit is employed in, for example, electrolytic cells of the filter press-type. |
