titleOfInvention | Solid electrolyte fuel cell and method for preparing it |
abstract | ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A solid electrolyte fuel is disclosed, which generally has on a gas-permeable support a laminated structure comprising a gas-permeable oxygen electrode layer made from an electron-conducting material, a solid electrolyte layer, and a gas-permeable fuel electrode layer made from an electron-conducting material. In one preferred embodiment, the solid electrolyte consists of a (CeO2)1-x(CaO)x (where x = 0.05 to 0.8) binary system or a third component-containing (CeO2)1-x(CaO)x (where x = 0.05 to 0.8) system. A plurality of unit cells each having the laminated structure may be connected to each other in series with interconnectors. The solid fuel cell may further comprise a combustion opening which may optionally be covered with a filler. In another embodiment, the solid electrolyte consists of CeO2 or ZrO2 containing dissolved a divalent or trivalent alkaline earth metal or rare earth metal oxide laminated on both sides or an anode side of a solid electrolyte of CeO2 or ZrO2 containing CaO. The solid electrolyte composition can be varied so as to highten hydration resistance. Also disclosed is a process for producing the solid electrolyte fuel. |
