ABSTRACT NOVEL SUBSTITUTED PHENYL ETHERS, PROCESS FOR THEIR PREPARATION, AND THEIR USE IN THE PREPARATION OF SUBSTITUTED PHENOLS Novel compounds of the general formula (I) in which X represents a hydrogen or a chlorine atom, and each of R1, R2, R3 and R4 independently represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl or ethyl group, are useful intermediates in the preparation of the corresponding phenols. They may be prepared by reacting a compound of the general formula (II) in which X has the meaning given above and Hal represents a chlorine or fluorine atom, with a compound of the general formula HO-CHR1-CR2=CR3R4 (III) in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 have the meanings given above, in the presence of a base. |
