Thermoplastic compositions based on polyphenylene ethers and polyoctenylenes, and method (s) of manufacturing same |
abstract |
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Disclosed are thermoplastic compositions comprising: A) a polyphenylene ether; B) 2-40 parts of polyoctenylene per 100 parts by weight of the polyphenylene ether; and C) optionally one or more of the following: up to 50 wt. % a reinforcing material; up to 60 wt. % a condensation polymer; up to 15 wt. % a flame retardant; and up to 5 wt. % other additives, all based on the composition and methods for producing such compositions in the molten state and in solution. The compositions are useful for injection or extrusion molding. The compositions are characterized by high impact strength, high softening temperature and improved processibility. |
