abstract | "PROCESS FOR PRODUCING HIGH PURITY BUTENE-1 WITH A LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION" Abstract High purity butene-1, in particular polymerisation grade butene-1, is obtained by means of the two-stage fractionation of a C4 hydrocarbon stream which contains it, substantially free from butadiene. The first stage of the fractionation process allows practically all the isobutane contained in the C4 batch to be separated as the top stream. The bottom phase of the first stage of fractions-tion is supplied to the second stage of fractionation thus obtaining high purity butene-1 as the top fraction, and the remaining components as the bottom phase. A characteristic of the process according to the in vention is that the vapours of butene-1 obtained as the top stream from the second stage of fractionation are compressed; the heat of condensation is used for operat ing the reboilers of the two fractionation stages. |
