titleOfInvention | Human endogenous cancer regulatory factor, process for preparing the same, pharmaceutical composition containing the same and human monocytic leukemia cell lines |
abstract | ABSTRACT A human endogenous cancer regulatory factor (KBS) having a molecular weight of 82,000 + 10,000 and an isoelectric point of pH 6.5 + 0.5, a process for preparing KBS and a pharmaceutical composition containing KBS are disclosed. The KBS of the present invention is useful as a potent tumoricidal or anti-tumor agent. TITLE OF THE INVENTION Human endogenous cancer regulatory factor, process for preparing the same, pharmaceutical composition containing the same and human monocytic leukemia cell lines FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a novel human endogenous cancer regulatory factor, a process for preparing the same, a pharmaceutical composition containing the same, and human monocytic leukemia cell lines. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION While several biologically active materials are known to have anti-tumor activities, interferons and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) are most popular. The latter is a proteinic, biologically active material produced by animals, and it is said that unlike interferons, TNF has trans-species potent tumoricidal or anti-tumor activities. Furthermore, the TNY is believed to act on tumor cells both directly and indirectly through the mechanism of immunization in the host. TNF was first discovered in mice by Old et a1. in 1975 at Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research, U.S.A., and it was later reported by Carswell et al. as a material capable of causing tumor necrosis [Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. USA, 72, No. 9, pp. 3666-3670 (1975)]. Methods of purifying TNFS (i.e. mouse TNF and rabbit TNF) |
