abstract | PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF N-ALLYL-O-ALKYL THIONOCARBAMATES Abstract of the Disclosure Processes for the preparation of N-allyl-O-alkyl thionocarbamates are disclosed. The first comprises reac-ting in an aqueous solvent and in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst a cyanide salt, sulfur and an allyl halide to form an allyl isothiocyanate and then reacting said allyl isothiocyanate in the presence of certain catalysts with an alcohol. The second comprises an improvement in the pro-cess for the preparation of N-allyl-O-alkyl thionocarbam-ates by the reaction of an allyl isothiocyanate with an alcohol. The improvement comprises the use of a catalyst of the general formula: wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 are individually selected from alkyl or aryl or a mixture thereof, M represents a metal from Group III B, IV B, or V B of the Periodic Table of the Ele-ments, and n is the integer 0 or 1; provided that the sum of n1, n2, n3, n4, and n5 equals the valance of said metal M. |
