titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of 3-carboxy-1- methylpyrrol-2-acetic acid
abstract ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE There is described a process for the preparation of 3-carboxy-1-methylpyrrol-2-acetic acid of formula (I): (I) in which a carboxylic compound chosen between acetone dicarboxy-lic acid and its alkaline salts, is reacted in an aqueous medium with methylamine and chloroacetaldehyde, at a temperature between 5°C and about 25°C. The resulting product is useful as an intermediate in organic synthesis; in particular for the preparation of 5-aryloyl-pyrrol-alkanoic acids which are anti-inflammatory agents.
