abstract Abstract A method is disclosed for producing bisphenol derivatives represented by the formula (I), (I) wherein R represents an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, alkenyl group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, phenyl group or 2-phenyl-ethenyl group, and R' represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. According to the method, a carboxylic acid represented by the formula (II), (II) wherein R has the same meaning as above, is reacted with a bisphenol represented by the formula (III), (III) wherein R' has the same meaning as above, using a halogenating agent in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent.
