abstract ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention discloses novel acetylsalicylic acid thioesters of the formula (I) (I) wherein n is 0 or 1, R1 is hydrogen, methyl or carboxy and R2 is hydrogen or an acetamido group. These compounds are prepared by reactîng a functional derivative of acetylsalicylic acid with a suitable thiol. Pharmaceutical composition having these compounds as active ingredients have improved antipyretic activity and are useful for the symptomatic treatment of influenza.
