abstract | TABLE TOP SWEETENER COMPOSITIONS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Sweetening compositions of the type that can be used as so-called "table top" sweeteners, that is, sweeteners that can be used in coffee, for cooking, baking, etc., are provided using as the basic sweetener the compound 6-methyl-oxathiazinone dioxide or its alkali metal or alkaline earth salts as the basic sweetening agent. The compositions pro-vided according to the present invention comprise about 1.5 -9% by weight of the 6-methyl-oxathiazinone dioxide or its salt, about 87-98% by weight of a sugar, sugar alcohol or polysugar and about 0.5-4% by weight of cream of tartar. The composition may also include up to about 0.6% by weight of the extract of thaumatococcus daniellii and up to about 0.6% by weight of maltol or ethyl maltol. |
