titleOfInvention | Collapsible curling iron with associated heat conducting member |
abstract | COLLAPSIBLE CURLING IRON WITH ASSOCIATED HEAT CONDUCTING MEMBER ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A collapsible curling iron comprises a handle having opposite ends and an interior opening at one of the ends, a heating element which is adapted to be connected to a source of electrical energy, and a housing having a longitudinal axis. The housing also has a bore extending along the longitudinal axis, which bore has a generally rectilinear cross section which accommodates placement of the heating element axially within and diagonally across the bore. The housing is mounted on the handle for movement between an operative position in which the housing extends from one end of the handle and an inoperative position in which the housing is substantially wholly confined within the interior opening of the handle. The housing is supported at the one end of the handle to prevent side-to-side or "rocking" movement of the housing relative to the handle in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis while permitting movement of the housing between its operative and inoperative position. |
