abstract | ABSTRACT There are disclosed novel oxazolone compounds of the formula wherein R2 is (C1-C3)alkyl; and R6 is or in which W is fluoro; w1 is benzyloxy, chloro, phenoxy, nitro or trifluoromethyl; w2 is benzyloxy, phenoxy, nitro or trifluoromethyl; W3 is methyl, (C1-C2)alkoxy, methylthio, chloro or fluoro; W4 and W5 are each independently hydrogen, methyl, bromo, chloro, fluoro, cyano, nitro or trifluoromethyl; Y is hydrogen, methyl, benzyloxy, (C1-C2)alkoxy, chloro, bromo or fluoro; y1 is hydrogen or methoxy; and y2 is fluoro or chloro , which are useful as an intermediate for preparing oxazolidine-2,4-diones having hypoglycemic activity, and processes for preparing the oxazolone comp-ounds. |
