titleOfInvention | Improved method for the carbochlorination of alumina in a molten salt bath |
abstract | Process for the production by carbochlorination of anhydrous aluminum chloride consisting in bringing into contact a source of alumina constituted by agglomerates and a chlorinating agent in the presence of a reducing agent in a bath of molten salts containing at least one alkali halide and / or alkaline earth, which is characterized in that it constitutes a lining of the bath of molten salts by means of said agglomerates, with the aim of causing intimate contact between the gaseous, liquid or solid phases. The application of this process allows a very improved hourly production of aluminum chloride, without the need to resort to complex and costly technological solutions. |
