titleOfInvention | Catalysts for the polymerization of ethylene, process for preparing them, and polymerization process using these catalysts |
abstract | PRECISION OF DISCLOSURE Ethylene polymerization catalysts, process for their preparation manufacturing and a polymerization process using said catalysts. The catalysts have the formula: (TiC13,? AlCl3) x (MCl3) x (MgX2) y in which 0.3? x? 30 ? y? 20, M is a transition metal of groups VB and VI B of the Periodic Table and X is a halogen, and are prepared by contacting the syncrisated titanium trichloride coated with aluminum chloride, metal trichloride M and, if applicable, anhydrous magnesium halide and subjecting these chlorides in a grinding step during which the grinding energy ge is at least equal to 3 KWh per kg of solid matter treated. The catalysts allow the polymerization of ethylene under a pressure from 300 to 2,500 bar and at a temperature of 180 ° to 300 ° C, in presence of an activator chosen from hydrides and organo-compounds metals of metals from groups 1 to III of the Periodic Table, the atomic ratio of the activator metal to the sum Ti + M being between 0.1 and 10, and the average residence time of the catalytic system in the polymerization reactor being between 2 and 100 seconds. |
