The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of alumina at least partially in the form of ultra-fine boehmite. According to a particular implementation of the invention, the alumina at least partially in the form of ultra-fine boehmite is obtained by treatment in an aqueous medium having a pH below 9 of an active alumina powder obtained by rapid dehydration hydrargillite in a stream of hot gases. The alumina obtained can optionally be used after drying and calcination as a filler, binder, thickener, dispersant, film-forming agent, enhancer, membranes, base material for catalyst supports. |
