titleOfInvention AREA-SELECTIVE PREPARATION OF .beta.-ISOPROPYL-NAPHTHALENE ON SOLID SUPERACID CATALYSTS OR PERFLUOROSULFONIC ACIDS CATALYTIC SUPPORTS
abstract PRECISION OF DISCLOSURE: The subject of the present invention is a method of preparation of .beta.-isopropylnaphthalene with a high regio-lectivity (90 - 98%) by alkylation of naphthalene on a solid or supported catalyst, such as an acid perfluorinated C4 to C18 alkanesulfonic or a sulfonated resin that perfluorinated such as the acid form of the ionic resin known under the trademark Nafion-K. Isomerization subsequent mixtures of isomeric isopropylnaphthalenes in .beta.-isopropylnaphthalene preferentially pure can also be performed.
