titleOfInvention System for the softening of water
abstract A system for the softening of water is disclosed which has a regeneratable softener containing an ion-exchange synthetic resin; a salt container containing supersaturated sodium-chloride solution; a multi-way valve which is connected to the inlet and outlet of the softener as well as to the salt container and to a waste-water line and is provided with a feed line for hard water as well as a discharge line for soft water. The system also has a regeneratable hardness detector which contains an ion-exchange shrink resin and the inlet of which is connected with an immersion filter which is lowered into the resin charge of the softener, within which detector the shape and/or height of a variable surface of the resin charge is determined as measure of the exhaustion of the softener. The outlet of the hardness detector is connected via the multi-way valve with the discharge line for soft water and/or that a substantially uniform height of the variable surface of the resin charge of the hardness detector is controlling and is physically sensed.
