abstract |
ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A mixed culture system of the newly discovered microorganism Thermoanaerobacter ethanolicus and the micro-organism Clostridium thermocellum is described. In a mixed nutrient culture medium that contains cellulose, these microorganlsms have been coupled and cultivated to efficiently ferment cellulose to produce recoverable quantities of ethanol under anaerobic, thermophilic conditions. |
