abstract | ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Alkyl perfluoro-.omega.-fluoroformyl esters are provided which have the formula: wherein R is alkyl of 1-6 carbon atoms, and n is 0-6 (preferably 0). Compounds where n is 0 are prepared by contacting SO3 with a compound of the formula ROOC-CF2-CF-OR1. Compounds where n is 1-6 are prepared by contacting a compound where n is 0 with hexafluoropropylene oxide. Also provided are polymerizable monomers having the formula: wherein Y is -COOR, -COOH, -COOM or -CN, where M is an alkali metal, ammonium or quaternary ammonium and p is 1-5, prepared from alkyl perfluoro-.omega.-fluoroformyl esters of this invention. |
