TITLE RECOVERY OF COPPER AND ZINC FROM COMPLEX CHLORIDE SOLUTIONS INVENTORS Gordon M. Ritcey Kenneth T. Price Bernard H. Lucas ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for recovering copper and zinc from chloride solutions comprising (1) separating lead (2) solvent extracting with water-immiscible organic liquid including chelating extractant (3) scrubbing the Cu-loaded organic phase whith water or Na2 S04 solutions (4) stripping copper with CuS04-H2S04 solution and electrowinning Cu (5) scrubbing the organic phase to remove sulfate and allow recycle (6) solvent extracting the remaining chloride solution with tributylphosphate (7) scrubbing the zinc-loaded orangic phase with ZnC12 . NaC1 solution (8) stripping zinc with ZnC12-HC1 solution and electrowinning Zn and (9) separating impurities as necessary and recovering chloride solution. |
