abstract Abstract of the Disclosure The invention includes novel alkali metal complex compounds of the general formulae I and II I II wherein Me represents an alkali metal, each X represents sulphur or oxygen, n represents a whole number from 3 to 20 L and L' represents a mono- or polyfunctional ether or amine, respectively, p and q are whole numbers from 0 to 4, R1, R2, R3, R4 are each hydrogen, alkyl, cycloakyl, aralkyl or aryl moieties and/or two or more such moieties closed to form an aliphatic or aromatic ring system (and processes for their preparation). These products are useful, inter alia for the hydrogentation of alkali metals at room temperature or below room temperature to form hydrides or nitrides.
