titleOfInvention | Homopolymers and copolymers of vinyl chloride having low vinyl chloride monomer content, and method of making same |
abstract | CASE POLYMERS OF VINYL CHLORIDE HAVING LOW VINYL CHLORIDE MONOMER CONTENT, AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME INVENTORS: Michael Frank Saggese, Fred V. Owens, and Barbara Fila, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Nashville, Tennessee, Trenton, New Jersey, and Edison, New Jersey; respectively. ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Dry particulate vinyl chloride homopolymers and copolymers, and dry particulate compostions containing major proportions of these polymers, having 2 parts or less per million of vinyl chloride monomer are provided. The viny] chloride monomer can be so low as to be undetec-able. The reduction in monomer content is achieved by subjecting the dry polymer particles to elevated temperature, agitation, and subatmo-spheric pressure. |
