ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The production of internally plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) is carried out by polymerizing or copolymerizing vinyl chloride in an aqueous dispersion medium, in the presence of up to 50 wt.%, based on the vinyl chloride, of a polymeric plasticizer prepared by polyesterification of dicarboxylic acids having 4 to 16 carbon atoms and diols having 2 to 8 carbon atoms, at a temperature of from -20 to +80°C and over a period of time such as to achieve a conversion of vinyl chloride of from 55 to 94%, and isolating the resulting polymer. The internally plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) produced by this method is suitable for the manu-facturing of stable flexible foils for earth insulations. |
