titleOfInvention Device for inserting and pushing a bar into a press- piercing mill
abstract ABSTRACT A device as disclosed for inserting and push-ing a bar of square cross section into a press-piercing mill, the bar being disposed along a rolling and drilling axis of the mill. The device includes a first thrust means having a rectilinear direction of action. The thrust means is adapted to thrust the bar at a speed for introducing the bar into the mill. A second thrust means having a rectilinear direction of action is adapt-ed for thrusting the bar at a speed for rolling and simultaneous drilling of the bar in the mill. The device also includes an actuator for simultaneously moving the two thrust means from a position in which the direction of action of the first thrust means coincides with the rolling axis and the direction of action of the second thrust means is a distance from the rolling axis, to a position in which the direction of action of the first thrust means is at a distance from the rolling axis and the direction of action of the second thrust means coin-cides with the rolling axis, and vice versa. With this device the loading time for the press-piercing mill is greatly reduced and the efficiency of the mill is accord-ingly increased.
