titleOfInvention Method of producing a foundry mold for casting molten metal
abstract TITLE A METHOD OF PRODUCING A FOUNDRY MOLD FOR CASTING MOLTEN METAL INVENTOR Ervin Istvan Szabo ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A foundry mold is formed by molding a foundry ag-gregate around a pattern, with the formed foundry mold com-prising a foundry sand containing 2 to 6% by weight of at least one alkali earth oxide, converting the at least one alkali earth oxide to alkali earth oxalate to provide a binder for the formed foundry sand, by, for example, adding an oxalic acid ester as a reagent to a water dampened mix-ture of the formed foundry sand containing the magnesium oxide, and coating the mold surfaces, to be contacted with molten metal, with a mold wash having a non-aqueous liquid vehicle that is miscible with water to provide an inert and immobile barrier between molten metal and a main body of the mold to prevent the molding surface from being washed away by molten metal being poured into the mold.
