titleOfInvention Process for preparing 2-aminoethyl methacrylate salts
abstract ABSTRACT Salts of 2-aminoethyl methacrylate are prepared by reacting equimolar amounts of 2-isopropenyl-2-oxazoline and a mineral acid in an aqueous reaction medium. The process is conducted at a temperature of up to 20°C, preferably at 0-5°C. In a preferred embodiment, a vinyl polymerization inhibitor is added to the aqueous medium. Maximum product yield and purity are obtained by maintaining the pH of the reaction mixture the same as the pH of the aqueous solution of the 2-aminoethyl methacrylate salt.
