titleOfInvention Method of producing pure magnesium oxide
abstract ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a method of producing pure magnesium oxide from crude magnesite and/or other starting materials containing magnesium carbonate, magnesium oxide and/or magnesium hydroxide, which are reacted with hydrochloric acid to give a magnesium chloride solution, this solution then being purified, after which the magnesium chloride is converted by thermal decomposition into magnesium oxide and hydrogen chloride, the starting materials being introduced, for dissolving, into a magnesium chloride solution, which is intensively agitated, and hydrochloric said being added to this solution with intensive agitation and, further agitation being continued, the starting material being caused to react with the introduced hydrochloric acid to form magnesium chloride and the magnesium chloride being drawn off in dissolved form for further processing.
