titleOfInvention | Encapsulation process |
abstract | ENCAPSULATION PROCESS ABSTRACT An improved process for releasably enclosing an aqueous solution of a micelle-forming spermicidal nonionic surfactant in a receptacle, wherein at least one portion of a wall of said receptacle ultimately comprises a microporous cellulose membrane, by initially fashioning a receptacle containing said surfactant solution comprising an acylated cellulose membrane precursor and thereafter deacylating said membrane precursor by contacting same with an aqueous solution comprising from about 3% to about 50% by weight of ammonia or water-soluble primary or secondary amine, is provided. The improvement in this process comprises dissolving sufficient electrolyte selected from alkali metal chlorides and ammonium chloride in said solution of ammonia or water-soluble amine to avoid osmotic rupture of the membrane precursor or resulting membrane. |
