abstract |
Abstract of the Disclosure A plastic composition which emits a reduced amount of smoke when heated to flame temperature is made by blending chlorinated polyvinyl chloride, a mixture of chlorinated polyethylenes, an alkyl acrylate polyvinyl chloride copolymer, and a mixture of a tin process aid and heat stabilizer. The plastic has application in trim parts in aircraft and mass transit vehicles. The reduced amount of smoke emitted when the plastic reaches high tem-perature, aids occupants of a plane or mass transit vehicle to visually find the high temperature source and/ or to find their way to an exit when a fire, electrical short circuit or other high temperature condition occurs. |
