abstract |
ABSTRACT Brominated phosphoramidates of the structure (R3) (R4) wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, chloro, bromo, and chloro or bromo substituted alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms; R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, hydroxy substituted alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms and chloro or bromo substituted alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms; R4 is independently selected from the group consisting of R3 and a group of the structure wherein R is selected from the group consisting of alkylene of from 2 to 8 carbon atoms; phenylene, biphenylene and dicyclohexylene; provided that at least one of R1 and R2 contains a bromine atom and at least one of R3 and R4 contains a replaceable hydrogen. The phosphoramidates of the present invention are useful to impart a flame retardant property to combustible materials. |
