titleOfInvention | Method of producing an n,n'-(disubstituted) piperazine compound |
abstract | Abstract of the Disclosure An improved process for selectively producing an H.N'-(disubstituted) piperazine compound is disclosed wherein an N-(substituted) dialkanolamine is contacted with a primary amine in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of phosphorus-containing substance at a temperature of from about 200°C to about 350°C under a pressure sufficient to maintain the mixture essentially in liquid phase, said N,N'-(disubstituted) piperazine compound produced having the formula: wherein each R is independently hydrogen or a lower alkyl radical and each R' is independently an alkyl radical, a substituted alkyl radical, an aryl radical or a substituted aryl radical; and, recovering from the resultant reaction mixture said N,N'-(disubstituted) piperazine compound. |
