Compounds of the formula wherein R is a 4-biphenylyl; 4-phenoxyphenyl; or 4-biphenylyl or 4-phenoxy-phenyl substituted 1 to 9 times by F, Cl and/or Br; A is -CH(CH3)-CH2(CH2)n-, -C(CH3)=CH-(CH2)n- or -C(OH)(CH3)-CH2-(CH2)n-; Z is -NR1R2, imidazol-1-yl, phthalimido or 3,4-dihydro-4-oxophthalazin-1-yl-amino, R1 and R2 each are H, alkyl, azaalkyl or acyl wherein alkyl and acyl in each instance being of 1 - 6 carbon atoms or, collectively, are alkylene of 4 - 7 carbon atoms, 3-oxapentamethylene or 3-R3-3-azapentamethylene, wherein R is H, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl in which alkyl in each instance is of up to 6 carbon atoms, and n is 1 or 2, and their physiologically acceptable acid addition salts are provided herein. Preferably they are produced by certain specified reduction reactions. The compounds possess anti-inflammatory, anti-arteriosclerotic and serum choles-terol and triglyceride level lowering activities. |
