titleOfInvention | Alkylation/transalkylation in presence of crystalline aluminosilicate catalyst |
abstract | ABSTRACT A process is described for alkylation and trans-alkylation of aromatic hydrocarbons, including aromatic hydrocarbons containing a non-polar substituent, e.g., benzene, toluene and xylene, by contacting sane with an alkylating agent, e.g. methanol, an olefin or an aromatic hydrocarbon containing a non-polar substituent, In a reaction zone maintained under alkylation and trans-alkylation effective conditions and in the presence of catalyst of the ZSM-21 family e.g. ZSM-35 and ZSM-38. In this process the ZSM-21 family of catalysts has an exceptionally high degree of thermal stability and a long useful life without deactivation. |
