| abstract | ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A chin protecting means for a protective helmet com-prising, a chin cup having a pair of spaced straps adjacent opposed lateral edges of the cup, and a sheet of soft flexible material having a doubled portion extending past the outer side edge of at least one of the straps, with a fold line in said doubled portion defining a soft conformable side edge of the cup for contact with the wearer's skin.
