titleOfInvention | Imidazole derivatives and process for their manufacture |
abstract | ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Imidazole derivatives of the general formula I which are active against dermatophytes, yeasts, protozoa, and gram positive and gram negative bacteria, are produced, for example, by reacting a compound of the formula II with imidazole for an alkali metal salt thereof. In the above formulae, Z represents a direct bond or a group of the formula , in which n represents 0, 1 or 2, and R1 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, which phenyl group may be substituted by one or more substituents selected from halogen atoms, alkyl groups containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, alkoxy groups containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms and nitro groups; R2 and R3 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group containing 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkylmercapto group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a halogen atom or a nitro group, or together represents a -C4H4- group; R4 represents an alkenyl group containing 3 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkynyl group containing 3 to 6 carbon atoms, a phenyl group which may be substituted by one or more substituents selected from halogen atoms, nitro groups, trifluoromethyl groups, alkyl groups contain-ing 1 to 6 carbon atoms and alkoxy groups containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a phenyl-alkyl group which contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl group and which may be substituted at the phenyl ring by one or more substituents selected from halogen atoms, nitro group, trifluoromethyl group, alkyl groups contain-ing 1 to 6 carbon atoms and alkoxy groups containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and, when n represents 0, may also represent an alkyl group containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms; X represents O, S or NH, Y represents a halogen atom or a reactive ester group and, when n represents O, may also represent a hydroxyl group. |
