Switching devices for photoflash unit |
abstract |
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A photoflash unit is designed to have a plurality of lamps fixed individually and in sequence. The unit includes a plurality of radiant energy switching devices each of which is adjacent one of the lamps. Each switching device is activated by radiant energy generated during flashing of the corresponding lamp. Initially, the switching devices have a high resistance ("off" position). After being acti-vated by radiation they undergo a chemical change and have a low resistance ("on" position). The switching devices consist of a composition including a carbon-containing silver salt and humidity-resistant organic polymer binder to provide a long shelf life under conditions of high re-lative humidity. |
