The machine incorporates a margin control mechanism that enables a roughing tool to engage the upper margin a relatively great distance inwardly of the periphery of the shoe assembly bottom during the passage of portions of the sides of the shoe assembly bottom part the roughing tool and to engage the upper margin a relatively small distance inwardly of the periphery of the shoe assembly bottom during the passage of the remainder of the shoe assembly bottom past the roughing tool. |
