abstract ABSTRACT This invention provides processes for preparing 3-[piperidino]-ureas and -thioureas which are substituted on the nitrogen of the piperidine ring by a 4-oxo-butylene group carrying a phenyl or substituted phenyl substituent. The 1-nitrogen or the urea or thiorea may also carry an aryl, aryl lower alkyl, aroyl, lower alkyl or cycloalkyl substituent; the 3-nitrogen may also carry lower alkyl substituent. These compounds exhibit pharmacological activity such as action on the cardiovascular system.
