abstract | PROCESS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF UREAS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the production of ureas by con-tacting at elevated temperatures and pressures in a basic solution a nitrogenous organic compound containing at least one non-cyclic group, in which a nitrogen atom is directly attached to a single carbon atom and is also attached through a double bond to an oxygen or another nitrogen atom, with carbon monoxide and with water or another nitrogenous organic compound in which the nitrogen atom is directly attached to at least one hydrogen atom, in the presence of an active amount of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of selenium, sulfur, compounds con-taining selenium, sulfur compounds and mixtures thereof. |
