abstract | 1. Title of the Invention RATION THEREOF 2. Abstract of the Disclosure: Novel 4-benzazonine derivatives and their salts, and process for the preparation thereof are disclosed. These 4-benzazonine derivatives are represented by the following general formula: wherein R stands for -H, -OH or a lower alkoxy group such as -OCH3, R1 designates -H or a lower alkyl group such as -OH3 and -CH2CH3, R2 indicates -H or a lower alkyl group such as -CH3, R3 stands for -H, a linear or branched, saturated or unsat-urated alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a mono- or di-hydroxy lower alkyl group such as -CH2OH and , a saturated cyclic hydro-carbon group having 3 to 6 carbon atoms or a subs-tituted or unsubstituted aromatic hydrocarbon group having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, and R4 designates -H, -OH or = 0. These compounds have medicinal effects, especially therapeutical activities to the central nervous system, such as analgesic, antitussive and sedative activities. |
