abstract | ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the production of beads of a vinyl-aromatic polymer which comprises polymerising a vinylaromatic monomer in an aqueous suspension system in the presence of a suspending agent, a suspension polymerisation catalyst and an alkyl hydrogen poly-siloxane comprising the repeating unit where R is an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms. The process reduces the incidence of occluded water especi-ally in portions of the bead adjacent the surface and is particularly useful in the production of foamable polymer beads. |
