abstract ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A process for the preparation of an antibacterial compound specifically of 1,5 - bis(5-nitro-2-funyl)-3-amino-guanidylhydrazone-1, 4-pentadiene hydrochloride by conden-sation between one mole of acetone and two moles of 5-nitro-furfuraldehyde, using anhydrous zinc chloride as condensation agent in a suitable solvent and in a weakly acid medium and subsequently adding an aminoguanidine salt, the final produit obtained being precipitated in hydrochloride form by addition of hydrochloric acid.
