abstract HYDROXYALKYLAMINO GLYCOSIDES AND PROCESS OF PREPARATION Abstract of the Disclosure Glycosides are prepared by reacting a monosac-charide or a compound hydrolyzable to a monosaccharide with 3-chloro-1,2-propanediol in the presence of an acid catalyst producing a 2-hydroxy-3-chloropropyl glycoside. The glyco-side is then reacted with a base and an amine having at least one alkyl group that contains 8 to 30 carbon atoms to produce an alkali soluble surfactant.
