titleOfInvention | Synthetic paper-forming material and the method for producing the same |
abstract | A B S T R A C T A polymer mixture is prepared composed mainly of (1) an .alpha.-olefin copolymer containing a structural unit selected from the group represented by the general formula and ; wherein R represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl radicals having from one to four carbon atoms, and derivatives thereof, and (2) a poly-.alpha.-olefin. The polymer mixture is emulsified together with a compatible solvent and a dispersion medium. The emulsified dispersion is jet extruded through an orifice. The resulting paper-forming fibrous material has a morphological structure like that of wood pulp, and this has a significant effect on internal sizing of paper, because its anionic compon-ents have an improved affinity for typical paper-strengthening agents that are used in the preparation of paper products. |
