The invention relates more particularly to a process for the preparation of nitro-2-halogenophenol, optionally alkylated, by substitution of a halogen with a group pe OH on a polyhalonitrobenzene, optionally alkylated, having a halogen and only one in ortho position relative to to the nitro group, which is characterized by reacting the polyhalonitrobenzene with a saponification agent within of a solvent comprising a tertiary alcohol having a constant dielectric not exceeding 25, determined at the temperature of 20-25 ° C. Nitro-2-halophenols are intermediates of synthesis of many biocidal products.
